Welcome to 2010 Walk Now for Autism Speaks: Pittsburgh

Welcome to Walk Now for Autism Speaks: Pittsburgh

Over 12,000 individuals came out on a beautiful, hot, sunny day in the City of Pittsburgh, PA to participate in the 11th Annual Pittsburgh Walk Now for Autism Speaks at Mellon Arena on Saturday, June 26th.

The Walk, chaired by Kim Motosicky, raised over $650,000 with donations still arriving. Our teams displayed incredible team spirit through their cheers, signing, and incredible signs dedicated to supporting their loved ones with autism. Participants walked through the streets of Pittsburgh and celebrated after the event with food donations sponsored by Quaker Oats, Pepsico, Bachman, Eat n Park, Shearer’s, Giant Eagle and GetGo.

We would like to thank all of the service providers that attended and our amazing sponsors that helped to make the Pittsburgh Walk possible. The Community Resource Fair featured 39 service providers focused on helping families affected by autism. Our National Sponsors, Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us were in attendance and had samples of their Differently Abled Toys. Our local corporate sponsors including AERI, Family Behavioral Resources, FedEx, Pepsico, New Story, Children’s Hospital, Giant Eagle, Landscape Structures, Pitt Ohio Express, Pressley Ridge, Community Care, Mellon Area, BCCZ, EDMC, IUOE Local Union #66, Phillips Respironics, Watson Institute, University of Pittsburgh Dept. of Pathology, United States Steel Corp., NNDS, KDKA Radio, Lamar Advertising, 84 Lumber, Buncher Family Foundation, Crown Castle, Dick’s Sporting Goods, DynaVox Mayer Johnson, GetGo, GNC, Good Orthodontics, Pediatric Alliance, Smithfield Trust, The Children’s Institute, Wesley Spectrum Services all help to make our event successful and many sponsors also had a walk team!

Special thanks to Larry Richert, who served as our event emcee and to DJ Bob Sciullion for sharing his fabulous tunes and kicking off the event. A huge thank you to all of the walk day volunteers who helped to make the day run smooth.

We are so grateful to all of all participants who worked hard for months leading up to the Walk and to all of those who will continue to work through the year’s end to raise much-needed awareness and funds in support of our mission.
