Getting to the Walk?
One of the benefits of holding our event at Sam Houston Race Park is the ease in getting to the venue. All of the activities will take place in the West Lot. You can access General Parking (see map above for General Event Parking area) through gates 1 and 2 off of Sam Houston Parkway. Parking is FREE for all guests. We will have directional signage once you get into the area. There will be a registration tent clearly marked as you enter the West Lot. EVERYONE must check-in. There will be 3 lines clearly marked at Registration: Pre-Registered Online, Registering Today/No Donations, & Registering Today w/Donations. Please check in at the appropriate line.
What Time is the Event?
Registration for Walkers will begin at 8:00am
Opening Ceremonies will begin around 9:30am
Walk Steps Off at 10:00am
Event Closes at 1:30pm
I May Not Make It To The Walk When Check-In/Registration Opens. Can I Arrive Late?
Yes. Registration/Check-in will be open until the walk ends. Please go directly to the check-in area when you arrive.
Will There Be Food & Beverages?
We will have bottled water available (first come, first served, while it lasts) for walk attendees in the park and on the walk route. There will also be food trucks on site with food available for purchase. You are welcome to bring your own cooler if you wish, and we recommend that you bring additional water or other beverages for your team, but absolutely no alcohol will be permitted. Glass bottles of any kind are strictly prohibited.
Are Pets Allowed at the Walk?
Sorry, but pets are not allowed. Many affected children have a fear of animals and even the sweetest pet could negatively affect another participant. Please be sensitive to this issue and leave your pets at home. Only service dogs are permitted at the walk.
Where is the Walk Route? Do I Have to Walk?
It is encouraged that all our participants enjoy walking the 1 mile wheelchair and stroller-friendly route around the event, but it is NOT mandatory. Walking is secondary to coming together as one strong united voice to show the unity and power of those directly and indirectly affected by autism. Even if a friend or loved one is not able to walk, you can still bring them along to support your efforts.
Are Bikes, Rollerblades, Scooters or Skateboards Allowed at the Walk?
For everyone's safety, we cannot allow any of these items.
What Happens if it Rains on the Walk Day?
All walks will be held on the date scheduled "rain or shine."
