Thank you so much for braving the cold and wind and joining us at the 12th Annual Philadelphia Walk Now For Autism Speaks! Although the weather didn’t cooperate, you showed up in force and we can’t thank you enough!
We wanted to take a moment to address some of your concerns from yesterday. We had our Walk site set up and organized according to the map that we shared with you before the Walk and the morning of the Walk, but the wind had other plans for us.
We were unable to use the incredible signs that were there to direct you to where you needed to go, and at the last minute we made the decision to move our resource fair, advocacy, merchandise and supporter tents inside because the wind simply made it too dangerous. We apologize if these last minute changes caused any confusion, but these were decisions we had to make. We also wanted to inform you that we are working on moving the Walk back to a September date in hopes that this will bring us some better weather and will be more convenient for our families.
There are so many amazing highlights from the day that we want to share with you.
• Cubertson Cares singing the National Anthem was moving and inspiring. Those young children and their teachers have been preparing for the spotlight for only a few short weeks. They shined and moved many walkers to tears.
• Sam Kanefsky is no stranger to the spotlight as he has spoken to the Philadelphia walkers for many years. His story of hope as he lives with Autism in his adult years as an employed individual was uplifting and enjoyable.
• Team Julian Green had the honor of cutting the ribbon and Julian was set for excellence with his parents and team cheering him on.
• Global Tax Management brought over 100 family and friends to enjoy the chilly weather and spend time as a community supporter of Autism Speaks.
Once again, thank you for braving the conditions and joining us for the Walk. If you were unable to join us and still have funds to turn in for your team, you can send them to:
